Went to the range, today…
August 17th, 2013
…to check on some work a retired Marine did on my 1911.
When I was done, a shooter from another lane came up to me and said, “You are one hell of a shot.”
And I thought, considering some of the people I run into, I’d better be.

Years ago, I had a Para-Ordinance 45. The frame was Para, but the slide and barrel were Colt. After a smith worked on it, well, let’s just say you could drive nails at 25yds. I sold it, and have regretted it ever since. I now mainly use a S&W M&P .40. It’s one hell of a pistol.

.40s flip a little harder than I like.
And call me old-fashioned and ballistically-ignorant, but I really like that big old bullet.
On the other hand, the M&Ps are phenomenal weapons. I have my eye on a M&P compact .45.
And I’m eventually going to pick up a standard M&P 9 for my girl. She loves it.

You won’t be disappointed. It’s an easy to shoot, easy to maintain weapon. M&P comes in 3 configs. Standard, Compact, which is a smaller double stack mag, and the Shield, which is single stack. I have large hands, so the Shield is out for me.
