Saddam Hussein…why did he fight?

December 30th, 2006

The execution of Saddam Hussein reminds me of a question I haven’t thought about in quite some time…why did he allow the war to begin in the first place?

I know conventional wisdom is that George Bush started the war, generic cialis ailment but Saddam could have prevented it simply by giving the U.S. and the U.N. complete access to Iraq and its records to prove that he didn’t have any weapons of mass destruction.

I’ll never understand why he didn’t do everything he could to prevent the invasion. Was it pride? Stupidity? Arrogance?

Whatever it was, it lead to him with a noose around his neck.

I think he never thought the invasion would happen, or that other Islamic countries would come to his aid. He failed to realize that they, Iran, the Saudi’s, wanted him gone. They didn’t trust him. Saddam was a wild card. His “conversion” to Islam was convienient. He suppressed much during his reign..
