Looks like I’m not the only one…

…with questions about the viability of the Daily Show in a post-Obama world.

From N.Y. Magazine:

Beyond the problem of audiences souring on Obama jokes is the question of whether Jon Stewart even wants to make Obama jokes. Of course, cialis canada there The Daily Show has found ways to goof on the Obama campaign, but it’s no secret that Stewart and his writing staff lean leftward. And The Daily Show differs from nearly all other popular political satire in that the show’s strength is in its writers’ outrage and anger at the powers that be. Stewart memorably described the show’s writing process to Michiko Kakutani as a bunch of “curmudgeons” writing about the things that upset them the most. If President Obama’s administration is the love-in that progressives hope it will be, we think it’s awfully unlikely Stewart’s heart will be in Obama-bashing.

I would like to point out that even Fox News found it very difficult to come up with funny fake news about Obama as anyone who watched the lame The 1/2 Hour News Hour during its short run can attest.

I just haven’t seen that much about Obama that lends itself to humor. His ears stick out, but that’s hard to prop a half hour fake news show around. Maybe some in his administration will lend themselves to humor and I’m sure the Reps. can be guaranteed to do their part.

    Now Steven Colbert …..

Yeah, Colbert is screwed. And good riddance.

    At least Stewart is funny.

    Colbert is just smug.

By the way, I think there’s a lot that could be funny about Obama.

    The messiah schtick.

    The “change” mantra.

    The return of Camelot vibe.

    The lack of experience.

The fact that the rest of the world adores him (and are bound to be let down).

Honestly, if he weren’t African American there would already be a ton of jokes and routines.

The problem is a lot of it could only be done by a black guy. No one else will be able to get away with making fun of him.

There may be a Democrat in the White House, but don’t fret… it’s not like we got rid of all the Republicans. And politicians of any stripe will still make mistakes. There will be plenty to laugh about.
