Knock on wood?

October 1st, 2007

I keep waiting for someone else to blog about the reports that deaths in Iraq are down 50%.

Maybe everyone feels like I do…if we just don’t say anything it might keep getting better.

I don’t see what is good about the death of two American soldiers and 33 Iraqis per day. And that is if the reports are complete and accurate.

You’ll notice I never said it was “good.”

And you must admit half as many deaths is an improvement, even if it is only a temporary one.

(My own theory is they’re running out of people to kill. The ethnic cleansing has been coming along nicely, apparently. (And please, recognize this parenthetical as ironic. I’m really NOT glad there’s been ethnic cleansing in Iraq.))

I wasn’t infering that you thought it was good, just expressing my own view of the story and how it was presented.

And yes, statistically, it is an improvement, but then one could say losing one limb is better than losing two or more limbs, but I would still opt for the none of the above.

You also have a valid point about the numbers, between those already dead and those fleeing the country. Did Bush say surge, or purge?
