I’ve started to notice that the more likely I am to see a “No Guns Allowed” sign…

…the more likely I am to be in a place where I might need one.

Or more likely, a place where people have been affected by gun violence, and who have made their choice about what they’d like in their place of business. Are you anti-freedom?

Yes, yes, I AM anti-freedom. Damn it, John, you finally got me figured out. Curses.

Well, if you’re anti-freedom, and you want to impose your values on others, then you must be a Sharia-lovin’ terrrrist, too.

I loved a girl named “Sherry,” once. Does that count?

I dunno. What kind of gun did she carry?

We had a place like that here in Salt Lake. Notice how well that worked.

Are those intent on committing a crime with a gun really deterred from doing so by a sign? I have yet to see surveillance footage of a masked robber approach a business, stop at the door, read the sign then turn around to leave.
Elliot, I missed the part of your post where you said businesses don’t or shouldn’t have the freedom to post such a sign. Maybe you should post a sign banning straw men in your blog. It won’t prevent those intent on mischaracterizing your viewpoint from doing so, but I believe you should have that right.

Roland, how do you feel about commenters who don’t have a sense of humor or who can’t detect sarcasm? Ban ’em or blast ’em or both?

I figured you of all people would recognize some good ‘ol snark, or was that satire?
As to your question…I’ve never been one to demand banishment…I’ll leave that to the whiners.

Let’s see… you’re saying that Wigderson, Robinson, Dooley, Kilkenny… they’re all “whiners”?

Sorry I didn’t get back to you right away, John. It’s been a hectic few days with all the last minute GOTV for Walker work and subsequent celebrations. Anyway…
No, I’m not. Are you?
