I’m not an economist…

September 26th, 2008

…which is why you’re not going to hear my opinion of the proposed financial bailout.

Too bad that won’t stop some of the rest of you from saying, discount cialis pilule “I’m not an economist, viagra canada cialis sale but…”

(I don’t mean that as an insult to any of you folks who have made a post like that. It’s human nature. I’ve done it myself in other categories. But at this point, I’d feel like me giving advice about what to do about the economy would be about as useful as me trying to tell a brain surgeon where to cut to remove the concept “purple” from someone’s brain.)

I’m not sure why an economist is anything special; get together 3 economists and you’ll get 3 different predictions on anything. And when all 3 turn out to be wrong, they will each have excuses why their prediction WOULD have worked except for _____.
There are too many variables involved for economists to do more than a SWAG.

I’m not an economist, but I am a pundit. Amateur, maybe, but still. Ergo, I shall continue to comment, whether I’m actually qualified to do so or not. You risk your good standing in the Pundits Guild if you suggest we need actual qualifications to punditize, Elliot.

I’ve held off too, but what I’ve read about Bush’s plan is frightening and unreasonable.
