If Barack Obama loses…

September 17th, 2008

…and you want to say the reason he lost is racism…

…then you’ll have to point your finger at racism from inside the Democratic Party.

Here’s my reasoning:

The country remains basically split 50/50 between Republicans and Democrats.

The 48% or so who vote Republican would vote for John McCain regardless of who the Democratic nominee was.

(That’s not to say that there are no racist Republicans. My point is that any Republican racism is irrelevant in this case because Republicans were going to vote for “their” guy whether the Democrat’s nominated Barack Obama, generic cialis remedy Hillary Clinton, for sale or Joe Biden.)

The problem lies with Democrats (and to some extent Independents).

The numbers say that if Barack Obama loses, nurse it will only be because members of his own party didn’t vote for him.

So if Barack Obama loses, and you’re a Democrat who thinks the reason he lost was racism, you’re going to have to take a good hard look at your own party.

If Obama loses, it will be because the Republican Party, certain of the general public’s short attention span and lack of attention to detail, waved a shiny object out there at the 11th hour.

    ALA Mayor “Diamond Joe” Quimby.

What a proud day it’ll be for the Grand Old Party if they win this way. Of course, as Rove has taught McCain; it ain’t how you do it – just win.

Then settle in for 4 more years of business as usual. All will be right with the world for all the right people.

If Obama loses the MSM will make sure that racism smear against the Reps is played over and over.

MSM will ignore all racism and sexism from the Dem’s.

Partisan Lefties will eat that line up because it excuses them of any of their own campaign mistakes.

But all Palin has done is allowed McCain to catch up to Obama in the polls. For all the wailing from the left, it is just tied.

Yep, because we know, as John has already intimated, that the ONLY reason Democrats lose elections is because Republicans steal them. Not because, GASP!, people choose Repubs over Dems. Although, I see little difference between the two. They’re both full of crap and will be bad for the country.

I know I’m in the minority on this one, but I think they’re both full of crap and, yet, neither would be that bad for the country.

I’m more afraid of Pelosi in charge of the House than I am afraid of either McCain or Obama in the Whitehouse.

And you might be right, John.

    But my point remains.

If Obama loses, plenty of people will shout racism, but the only racists I think you could reasonably blame would be Democratic ones.

If Obama loses, I think it would have to depend on how much McCain wins.

If it’s a tight race and he loses, then I don’t think racism can be blamed on the Democrats. Perhaps racism on the part of some swing voters.

If he loses by more than a percentage or three – then yes, it would be people who in the past would have been Democrat supporters.

And I’m, of course, referring to the popular vote. If he loses and wins the popular vote then I don’t think race can be attributed to it almost at all.

Race will play a role; at least a small role. It just remains to be seen if it will play a large enough role to be seen and/or matter.

GENDER will do Obama in, ironically. What’s exciting about a middle-aged career politician with a hair transplant? The Repubs counterprogrammed shrewdly.

    Anything to win.
