I guess building de-salinization plants up the Pacific coast, then piping it inland hasn’t crossed their minds. I believe a number of countries in the Middle East do this. Why not here?

Hell, California is pissed off at Utah because we won’t pipe water from our rivers to California. We have trouble getting enough to use here at home.
