Ann Althouse nails the entire problem right there

July 23rd, 2012

Now, the Democrats purport to “believe in an America that pays it forward,” which sounds odd to me, because it seems that the Democrats have plunged us into debt that they expect the next generations to deal with. It’s more billing it forward.

via Althouse: “This election is about values. It’s about what kind of people we are and what kind of country we want to build.”.

Yes Ann, it was so totally the Democrats who have plunged us into this debt.

Because, you know, the vast majority of our current debt didn’t come from Republican Presidents or anything.

Republicans still are responsible for more real world dollars of the current national debt than Democrats (though I will grant that that number is balancing out, but then how would Obama be doing if he DIDN’T have 600 billion dollars of interest alone to pay back from the Republicans of the past 30 years?).

Either way, making the claim that Democrats are solely responsible (or even bear the largest responsibility for) for the debt is stupidity, ignorance, or lies. Pick any one of the three you wish.

    You should tell Ann that!

But I will say, that the Democrats aren’t acting very interested in restraining spending at the moment.

(And their plan of taxing the rich to fix the deficit, is just not very realistic. Even complete confiscation wouldn’t make a very big dent.)

Elliot (and Althouse) had to engage in willful blindness in order to make this post. Dems bad! Dems bad!

Actually, “a complete confiscation wouldn’t make a very big dent” is completely bogus.

A complete confiscation would solve the entire world’s economic problems.

Relevant quote: “The world’s super-rich have taken advantage of lax tax rules to siphon off at least $21 trillion, and possibly as much as $32tn, from their home countries and hide it abroad – a sum larger than the entire American economy.”

Obviously I don’t agree with a COMPLETE confiscation. But then, you made that statement. Not me.

Of course, the Dem’s have refused to accept any responsibility for the current problems. Obama is still blaming Bush for his problems. Will Obama ever say he screwed up?
    Yeah, didn’t think so.
    Neither will Debunked.

What’s that, Dan? Bush did something wrong? What form should the admission of guilt for lack of responsibility look like? What should Bush’s former supporters / cheerleaders / cohorts say? You’re saying Obama’s supporters will need to do the same thing six years from now?

I guess you must be getting old, John, but many if not most conservatives, were not happy with Bush when it came to economics. And we ripped him for it.
Unlike you, debunked and others of your ilk who will defend Obama to no end.

“Defending Obama” isn’t the same as “pointing out Republican hypocrisy”, is it?
