Headline in today’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
(When taxes are voluntary instead of compulsory, viagra sales discount you can put them in the same sentence as the word “liberty”. Until then, taxes are just theft by another name.)

Now that’s just crazy talk. Taxes are the price of admission to a civilized society.
Do you consider fire department fees to be theft? Should a homeowner have to cut a check up front before the hydrant is turned on?
Each and every tax has been voted on by your legal representatives and is part of maintaining that free lifestyle we so value.
Taxes are necessary to maintain civilization. That is not the same as being a necessary evil.

Grumps, I agree with you with one small bit of re-wording. Wisely spent taxes are necessary.. To often, they are NOT spent wisely. They are wasted, rather, on things that are not governments business.

I think more often than not now it’s not spent wisely. Read: pork, fraud, croney-ism, and more.

One more note:
“Each and every tax has been voted on by your legal representative”.
1. These “legal representatives” don’t pay their own taxes.
2. Not all tax is voted on. When was the last time an MATC tax hike was approved by an official we voted for? … Oh that’s right… they’re not elected officials!
