Two sets of lawbreakers, one great solution!

July 11th, 2006

Problem #1: California is beset by illegal immigrants. Their presence is justified because they do jobs like fruit picking that American’s won’t do.

Problem #2: California’s prisons are overflowing with felons and there’s no money to build new facilities.

Close the borders to keep illegal immigrants out and then rent prisoners to the farmers to pick crops and use the money raised to pay for new prisons.

Your solution is actually weighted even more in our direction than your post suggests. See, if you keep the illegals out, then there will be less crowding in the prisons to begin with. Therefore you cut down on prison overcrowding, cut down on crime, make good use of the criminal resources, AND the “jobs that nobody want” are filled. What a great idea, Elliot!

Whoops, won’t work. Paul Bucher says it’s the same subset.
