I saw that story and I wondered a few things…

First of all… why are they calling it a vaccine when you’re only supposed to use it to quit? That’s a cure. Vaccines are preventative.

Secondly… if it were to prevent smoking… would they require kids to be immunized along with their MMRs?

Better yet, why don’t they just ban cigarettes completely? It’s a drug, it’s addicting, it kills people. It seems like a harsh action to take considering some would think that it violates their rights, but it seems that aggressive action is necessary to prevent children from picking up this habit as well as help current smokers quit.

I’ve tried several times to quit smoking and most recently quit for 2 months. But since I was always around smoking from husband, friends and even driving around town — it was really really tough and I relapsed. I think that if it wasn’t readily available and easy to purchase which would ultimately increase one’s chance of success. No doubt unrealistic but well worth consideration.

3 weeks! I’m less cranky now. As for the shot. well, I think motivation and support are what will get you through, not a shot. I quit because I knew I should, not because I didn’t like smoking anymore. I think that’s why it’s been so hard, other than the obvious reason. Plus, my friends have been great support. Caren, they won’t outlaw them as they’d lose the taxes they get from them. Remember prohibition? There’d be a black market for cigs. Of course, smoking is more obvious than drinking. Even if you moderate it, you can’t hide the smoke.

The best cure for smoking is Death – after all once your dead it is hard to get your lighter out of your pocket.

C’mon Clint. That’s only if the mortician didn’t steal it!
