CAN women have it all?.

The question is, can anyone?

And the answer is of course, no.

I’ve tried arguing that to some people for a while. Men have never had it all. Most men who have extremely successful careers have done so to the detriment of their family. They may have a family, but they are likely not as close as maybe they want to be. They don’t have the same relationship with their kids as their wife does, etc.

Women who think they can have both the stellar career, and also be the stellar mom are kidding themselves. I’d like to see the man who has the stellar career and is also the stellar do everything dad.

Agreed, Nick. But even more proudly, humans are creatures of ever-expanding appetites. Even if someone had it “all,” they’d want more time. More success with their job, more time with their kids…

“All” is an unquantifiable goal and thus unreachable.
