The best definition of Democracy:

Too bad neither the Democrats or the Republicans believe in the second half of that definition.

    I am not sure I completely agree with this statement. Democracy gives special privileges to the majority at the expense of the minority. This is the reason why the countries with the most equality are often not the most democratic. An example is the electoral system in U.S. which is opposed to the principle of democracy.

    Two things:

    Technically, we’re a Republic not a Democracy. ;)

    The statement is about how a Democracy should work. I agree that so far no Democracy has gotten it completely right. It’s just too tempting for people to vote themselves bread and circuses.
