That many?

I’m not that amazed that President Obama’s job approval rating is 50% or Higher in only 16 States and D.C..
What I don’t understand is how ANYONE can still approve of him.
I mean it.
What is there to approve of?
Liberals are pissed at the ongoing wars, viagra generic malady the continuing existence of Guantonimo, help the total failure to raise taxes on the wealthy, viagra the lack of promised transparency, etc…
And Conservatives are pissed at everything else he’s done or failed to do.
So who are these people who are still approving of him?

Because many people still think that approval is a zero sum game, and that if I disprove of Obama, then I have to approve of Republicans. Of course, politicians think the same way, and that its somehow not possible for both to go down a lot, and not simply “take approval” at the expense of the other.
As far as liberals being pissed b/c Obama hasn’t done what he’s promised… Republicans were pissed at GW for big gov’t stuff, and never disapproved of him publicly.
It’s called being a partisan hack, and there are a lot of them out there.

Are Presidential approval ratings anything more than interesting, statistical curiosities?
Obama is going to do what Obama wants to do while bearing no responsibility for the outcome. He is in permanent campaign mode where everything positive is hyped, everything negative is attacked. “Credit rating downgraded? Psshh, who is Standard & Poors and why do they hate America? Everybody knows America is a triple-A country and always will be.”
Bush was accused of the same closed-minded, fixed path attitude. Some call that leadership, some say it’s stuck on stupid.
The last President who played to the approval ratings was Bill Clinton, and he was criticized for it.
I agree with Nick that we have an either/or mentality in this country. It’s a product of living in a two party political system. Where do pro-Life, pro-Union folks go? Where to non-religious, fiscal conservatives go?

Roland, I bet you can think of some blogs where, if you posted such moderate/centrist talk, you’d be ridiculed. I’m glad you’ve found a place where you can speak freely and wouldn’t be jeered or banned.

You have to admit that if Obama waas white, his approval numbers would be soo much lower. But the liberals think that if they disaprove of Obama, they would be considered racist and they probably feel the same way with others who disapprove of Obama- that whoever disappoves of Obama are racist.
If Obama were not black, do you think the blacks would support him with all the exremely high unemployment in the inner city? Of course not. And Obama avoids the poor areas of town like the plague when he visits different cities. He has been to Las Vegas at least 4 times and not once has he visited a poor area of town but yet the minorities in Las Vegas support him. Why? I am sure the same is true in other cities Obama has visited.
Obama and the democrats just take the poor and minorities for granted and expect their vote, even though they have nothihg for them.

So Dan, what you’re saying is that you’re so much smarter than those minorities, hmm?
