Let’s suppose John McCain had won the election

And then, viagra sales buy during the second biggest financial crisis in American history, cialis buy he’d taken a vacation in Hawaii.

Be honest: what do you think the mainstream media and the left-wing blogosphere would have said?

Personally, I’m fine with the President-elect taking a little break. It’ll be good for all of us to have him take office rested and ready.

But I’m pretty sure, that would NOT have been the reaction if the swimsuit had been on the other foot (so to speak).

As sick as I am of all the unwarranted comparisons of Barack Obama…

…to FDR, tadalafil buy JFK, viagra buy and Abraham Lincoln; I can’t think of a more appropriate bible for America’s first black President to be sworn in with than the one that was used to swear in Abraham Lincoln – the President that ended slavery in America.

As Barack Obama might say, “enough!”

Do we really need a picture of the president elect on the cover of every magazine every week?

And can we stop with the religious iconography?

Barack Obama is not a black & white Buddha surrounded by prayers. Stop depicting him as if he were.

Say what you will about the evils of George Bush’s America, viagra generic unhealthy but I contend that every instance of the FBI investigating someone’s library books, or listening in to an American citizen talking to terrorists, did less to endanger our democracy than this unrestrained and unjustified worship of a politician.

Free societies die when they deify their leaders.

Rome’s Repbulic fell when Caesar was seen as a celestial saviour.

This worship of a politician is unseemly and un-American.

We’re a nation of equals.

Respect the office? Yes.

Hope for a hero? Fine.

Deify the Democrat? That’s when it’s time to say, enough is enough.

I’ve been thinking about it, and now I think Barack Obama will do his best…

…to govern towards the center, generic cialis sovaldi sale not have a scandal-filled administration and not rock the boat.

Why?

Well, generic viagra most Presidents feel the need to do big things. Reinvent government. Start a war. End a war. Stuff like that.

But Barack Obama doesn’t have to swing for the fences.

He already has a historic Presidency.

In fact, all he can do at this point is screw it up.

His job from here on in is to not make waves. If he can get through a couple of terms without major controversy or scandals, his place in history is secure.

If, on the other hand, he screws it up it’ll be 40 years before anyone other than a white guy wins the White House again.

Who needs the federal government?

The auto industry is only asking for a $34 billion bailout.

It looks to me like Barack Obama could probably just loan them some of the money:

In 21-plus months, cialis generic cialis Barack Obama raised nearly $750 million, buy cialis health surpassing all of his White House opponents this year and also eclipsing the total amount of money raised by all of the presidential candidates combined in 2004.

Or maybe he could give them the phone number for the guys who ran his fundraising.

(As an aside, I find it a little premature for news agencies to be already Photoshopping President-elect Obama’s face on U.S. currency.) ;)

At least George W. didn’t ignore the Constitution even before he took office

I wonder if everyone who felt that George W. Bush undermined the U.S. Constitution will complain about Barack Obama totally disrgarding it:

Pete Williams of NBC raised the question on MSNBC this afternoon: Is Hillary Clinton barred by the Constitution from accepting the post of secretary of state?

Article One, viagra sales health Section Six of the U.S. Constitution says:

“No Senator or Representative shall, site during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.”

Essentially, you cannot take a job if the salary was increased during your current congressional term. And the salary for cabinet officials has gone up in the past year. Even if it is lowered back down, constitutional scholars say that may not be enough to fix the problem.

The question is whether this would be an issue at confirmation – if Clinton is nominated to the post – and who would raise it. Senators traditionally grant their colleagues some deference and it could be considered politics at its worst if Republicans try to block her nomination with this argument. But senators may be loathe to vote for something scholars tell them is unconstitutional.

That being said, this development may make Obama, or Clinton, think twice about the appointment.

New Deal or Nuevo Contrato?

President-elect Barack Obama on Saturday offered an outline of his economic recovery plan to create 2.5 million jobs by 2011, best viagra tadalafil saying American workers will rebuild the nation’s roads and bridges

I wonder if he knows many-to-most construction-type jobs, buy viagra nowadays, are done by illegal immigrants?

I always think this is completely hypocritical for a Democrat…

…but it’s probably the right thing to do for his kids:

Obamas chose private school for daughters

(On the other hand, viagra usa health what do I know? I only ever went to public schools.)

Reality check

Barack Obama has been compared to Abraham Lincoln:

Franklin Delano Roosevelt:

and John Fitzgerald Kennedy:

Let’s see how those comparisons hold up:

Abraham Lincoln saved the Union and freed the slaves.

Barack Obama is young and handsome and got elected President.

FDR guided the nation through the Great Depression (although probably prolonging it) and lead America to victory in the greatest war the world has ever seen.

Barack Obama is young and handsome and got elected President.

JFK was young and handsome and got elected President…

OK. I guess JFK and Obama are a fair comparison.

Unfortunately, viagra usa no rx JFK’s main accomplishments included the Bay of Pigs fiasco, almost blowing up the world during the Cuban Missile Crisis, letting the Soviets build the Berlin Wall, and getting us into Vietnam.

But he was young and good looking.
