State Sen. Leah Vukmir is a friend of mine

January 13th, 2011

And if anyone hurts her, viagra canada viagra they’re gonna get hit by a wheelchair.

But, prostate that said, and I doubt the threat against her and other Republican officials in Wisconsin is anything more than the kind of trash talk you see all the time on the Internet.

Of course, I’m reserving final judgement until we learn more details.

Leah is a friend of mine, too, and I hope you’re right.

  • 2. capper  |  January 13th, 2011 at 10:04 pm

I had the same feeling that this is being over-hyped. But I know if I posted that, I’d be painting a big bullseye on myself.

I just wonder who is playing it up, the pols or the media or both.

  • 3. TerryN  |  January 14th, 2011 at 2:22 am

Careful where you paint bullseye’s. Some may accuse you of the next shooting rampage even though you were nowhere near it.

  • 4. John Foust  |  January 14th, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Yeah, there’s no details. Not one blogger or commenter or friend thereof has managed to show what these threats are about. So in some ways, it is like Palin’s attention-seeking behavior.

  • 5. Dan  |  January 14th, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Umm, yeah John. And I am sure the Secret Service are announcing all the threats against Obama.
The police with hold information for a reason, John and that is find as much evidence they can and also reduce the threats of copycats.
But I am sure you know that, you just want a little attention.

  • 6. John Foust  |  January 14th, 2011 at 9:30 pm

Show me the facts, Dan. “Vukmir of Wauwatosa and Darling of River Hills said Thursday they had been named in a threat posted online on Craigslist.” The reporter said nothing about even trying to confirm Sen. Johnson’s statement that “The FBI, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Oshkosh Police Department, and United States Capitol Police are working diligently to investigate this matter.” I searched Milwaukee Craiglist rants & raves. “Vukmir” and “Darling” don’t show up in any discussions.

  • 7. Roland Melnick  |  January 15th, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Why limit your search to only the Milwaukee Craigslist rant and rave section? What insider info do you have, John?

  • 8. John Foust  |  January 16th, 2011 at 1:23 pm

No insider info here. As I said, I think any blogger or commenter who had any actual info would’ve come forward with the scoop. The absence seems unusual to me. Why would a public threat have been noticed only by two wacky conservative politicians? As for where I searched, I didn’t want to spend the time conducting a more extensive search. Have at it. Again, it seems odd to me that no one was even mentioning their names on Craiglist.

  • 9. Roland Melnick  |  January 16th, 2011 at 2:11 pm

You don’t know for a fact that their names weren’t mentioned on Craigslist. Your inability to find anything after your admittedly narrow search isn’t proof of anything. You’re just throwing around innuendo at this point. Show us the facts John.

  • 10. John Foust  |  January 17th, 2011 at 8:53 am

Roland, you’re being obtuse. Anyone can verify what I said: Go to Milwaukee Craiglist, Rants & Raves, and search for “vukmir” and “darling”. Nothing turns up. To me, that says no one is talking about them right now. Does it mean the supposed message did not exist? Of course not. Maybe it did. Maybe it was flagged and removed. Maybe the original poster removed it, you know, like the J. Rawson Schaller threat on BadgerBlogger.

  • 11. Roland Melnick  |  January 17th, 2011 at 3:31 pm

I’m merely pointing out that, by your own admission, you searched one section out of hundreds on Craigslist…therefore it is a misrepresentation to say there is nothing on Craigslist in general.

I have not seen any media reports detailing exactly where on Craigslist those threats were posted, so why do you focus on the Milwaukee wants and raves section? Something you aren’t telling us, John?

  • 12. Roland Melnick  |  January 17th, 2011 at 3:38 pm

    Correction: “…rants and raves…”

  • 13. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 11:31 am

In no way did I imply that my search was exhaustive. You probably understand that, but in your BadgerBlogger fashion of being annoying, you think it’s funny to suggest that I had something to do with the threat.

  • 14. TerryN  |  January 18th, 2011 at 12:06 pm

    Pot meet kettle…

  • 15. Roland Melnick  |  January 18th, 2011 at 12:26 pm

“Again, it seems odd to me that no one was even mentioning their names on Craiglist.”

That’s a pretty broad statement. Which is all I’m saying.

I don’t know if you had anything to do with the threat. I just found it interesting that out of all the Craigslist pages out there, you focused your search on one in particular. Something you still haven’t explained.

  • 16. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Rants & Raves is the place where the most local free-wheeling political discussions take place, right? Is there some other section you think would be a better place to search?

  • 17. Roland Melnick  |  January 18th, 2011 at 2:16 pm

I’m not familiar with Craigslist’s rules governing where you can post threats.

  • 18. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 3:51 pm

The rules say only in Rants & Raves, unless the threat involves cops, boots or guns or wee-wee, and then there’s other sites for that.

  • 19. Roland Melnick  |  January 18th, 2011 at 4:05 pm

Oh get over yourself, John. My last comment was meant to be funny. I’m sure their policy is no threats allowed, no matter where it is posted.

One other baseless assumption of yours I noticed was where you said: “Why would a public threat have been noticed only by two wacky conservative politicians?”
Again, unless you have some info the rest of us don’t, I don’t think it has been disclosed exactly who noticed the threats and reported it to authorities. Perhaps you are just using this incident as an opportunity to belittle politicians with whom you disagree. Haven’t we learned anything from Tucson?

  • 20. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 5:01 pm

My comment was hilarious, of course. I left out the exposure of privates, though. Isn’t that what someone described as the sort of private hilarity that goes on behind the scenes at BadgerBlogger?

Yes, there is only a press release from several Milwaukee-area Republicans. Sensenbrenner claims he was threatened, too – perhaps it was all in the same post. Belittle? I called them “wacky” and made reference to Palin’s self-promoting behavior. Pass the smelling salts!

What have you learned from Tucson?

  • 21. Roland Melnick  |  January 18th, 2011 at 10:20 pm

“Exposure of privates…Isn’t that what someone described as the sort of private hilarity that goes on behind the scenes at BadgerBlogger?”

    Gay jokes? Really, John?

  • 22. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 10:44 pm

No, really. No, not a gay joke as far as I know. After all, you’re hiding behind an alias. I’m referring to last September’s hilarious Rawson Schaller post on BadgerBlogger, where he said your blog is run by “an active-duty cop, a 30+ year member of the MPD senior management team, a computer genius, and a guy who just shaved his head, cut a small piece of his ear off”. I think he went on to suggest that you’d rip his head off and then you’d all pee down his neck. Are you calling that gay?

  • 23. Roland Melnick  |  January 18th, 2011 at 11:38 pm

You are being rather dishonest here, John. You insinuate that me and the rest of the Badger Bloggers, who are all men, expose our privates behind the scenes. Call me “wacky” or “obtuse”, but that sounds like a gay joke in poor taste to me.

Now you backpedal and claim you were referring to a post Schaller made months ago that said nothing about “exposing privates behind the scenes.”

It’s interesting that what started as a simple back and forth with me being critical of some assertions and assumptions you were making turns into you insulting me and the blog where I hang out. It’s a pattern with you. If I say something that bothers you, you replay your list of grievances…most, if not all, of which seem to be about other people. Your therapist will tell you that is called “transference.” Just ask him/her about it at your next session, it may open some new doors for you.

  • 24. John Foust  |  January 18th, 2011 at 11:43 pm

I reviewed his post. Too explicit to repost here, I think. Do you want a copy? I guess it says it they wouldn’t whip ’em out, but they were thinking about it. Not gay at all. Not that there would be anything wrong with that, if it were.

I was just catching up on the comments and this made me laugh out loud:

“I’m not familiar with Craigslist’s rules governing where you can post threats.”

  • 26. Elliot  |  January 19th, 2011 at 10:56 am

Hey guys, I know there’s a lot of ugliness that happens on some of the other local blogs on both sides, but I like to keep it a little cleaner here. Please?

    Thanks!

  • 27. John Foust  |  January 19th, 2011 at 4:19 pm

You are a saint for allowing such a forum, Elliot. And to think that I toned it down at least 95%. There was no way I could post what was actually posted on BadgerBlogger. Too many bad words.

Anyone want to put some money on whether this press-release supposed threat ever sees the light of day?

Thanks, Elliot. I was beginning to think my humor was lost everyone here. John’s a lost cause, but I knew someone would get a chuckle out of it.

  • 29. John Foust  |  January 19th, 2011 at 9:16 pm

Even I saw the humor there, Roland. You didn’t hear me laugh?

Reminds me of the old comic who said “They all laughed when I told them I was going to be a comedian. Well, they’re not laughing now.”

  • 30. John Foust  |  January 25th, 2011 at 6:24 pm

Presto. Based on the mug shots and the TV reports, it looks like Musgrove has a MySpace. Look at that. He’s a McCain/Palin supporter! Could be a friend of yours, you say? Oh yeah, and it was in the Rants & Raves section.
