Like a rattlesnake with a knife

Two men tried to kidnap me and a friend last weekend. One held an eight-inch knife to my friend’s back. The other assumed I’d be docile because I was in a wheelchair. He made a mistake. His broken ribs will heal, cialis canada order but my sense of justice won’t mend quite so readily. You see, buy after I fended off our attackers with my hands and a handgun, ampoule I was arrested. The police treated me as the criminal because I had taken the galling step of carrying a gun and protecting myself with it.

I was a cop for six years, until a penny ante robber pounded my spinal column with a twenty-two caliber hammer. I understand the frustration some cops feel when confronted with an armed citizen. Every gun on the street increases the chance that a cop or an innocent person will get shot, maybe killed. On the other hand, when I was still on patrol an armed bystander saved my life on at least two separate occasions. The bad guys will always have guns or knives or numbers to make honest people fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones. Taking guns away from the rest of us—the physically weak, women, the elderly, the handicapped—just puts us at even more of a disadvantage when confronted with the physical superiority of most criminals.

The police have a nearly impossible job to do. They cannot be everywhere all the time. If I had waited for an officer of the law to protect my friend and me against the two animals who attacked us, somebody else would probably be writing this post. It is each of our responsibilities to protect ourselves. I am not talking about vigilantism. No man or woman should take the law into his or her own hands. We are a civilized society, which means obeying laws even when we don’t agree with them. But all people must be willing to defend themselves with whatever force necessary.

Last weekend, I defended myself from a man named Ronald Wyrmer. Because I didn’t shoot him, you might have to defend yourself against him this weekend. Ronald is a 22-year-old white male. He stands six-foot-two and is thin and muscular. His hair is blond, and he wears it at shoulder length, although he may have cut it recently. If you see him, or anyone matching his description, call your local authorities. Do not attempt to apprehend him yourself. He should be considered armed and as dangerous as a rattlesnake. In fact, he’s worse than a rattlesnake; at least rattlesnakes warn you before they try to kill you.
