Paid to post?

December 20th, 2006

Some people are concerned that an advertising company will actually pay bloggers to post about a certain product or service.

I’m only concerned because no one has asked me to do it yet.

(Just kidding…sorta. ;)

Yeah, because celebrities NEVER get paid to plug products when they go on Letterman and Leno.

And now, because some bloggers might get paid about seventy-five cents to talk about Ovaltine, people are up in arms and want full disclosure.

Wouldn’t it be nice the next time Julia Roberts is sitting on Leno’s couch promoting her new RomCom, answering softball questions, and suddenly begins to talk about the Roomba Vacuum cleaner for absolutely no reason, that she had to disclose that Roomba paid her fifty-thousand if she’d name drop them during her segment.

Hell, I endorsed Casper for Everything in the last election and I’ve yet to see a dime. Maybe that’s a good thing, though.

I just had one of these offers yesterday. No talk of money (yet) but they offered me their software (tracking children’s actions on the computer), which if it works as advertised, would be a good thing, but I’m not going to get into anything like that.
