June 19th, 2007

    Hey Elliot,

Thanks for the feedback! We are still waiting on all the DNS changes to happen, so it may take awhile for all those feeds to work. Nothing we can do about that.

    Your feedback is appreciated.

And thanks for coming to the blog summit!

Google Reader barfs on Charlie’s feed, as it does for the majority of JSOnline feeds. That’s a killer for them.

I’m trying to work them over to get the feed working right. The techies say that it’s a DNS issue (odd, because FeedValidator says that the WTMJ feeds are valid). It’s not a RSS 0.92 issue because other 0.92 feeds make it into Google Reader. I’m suspecting it’s an almost-complete lack of <description> tags (specifically, a single <description />tag on the first post).

It is a possibility that its a DNS issue. I can see the raw RSS… but Google’s DNS cache could be stale in which case they’re seeing an older version.

That only applies if they changed their IP addresses though…

It wouldn’t surprise me if its something else all together. The JSOnline feeds have always been spotty at best.

Good news – Google Reader is no longer choking on the WTMJ feeds.
