Midworst Airlines?

September 13th, 2007

I just can’t see the regulators allowing Northwest Airline to own 47% of its only real competition in Milwaukee.

I can see it happening since it’s a non controlling “silent” share. It will only be hard to get regulatory approval if Northwest decides to buy out the shares from the owning group, something which it has the option to do.

As far as Midworst goes… having flown Northwest and Midwest on similar jaunts from here to LAX in the last year, I can say that Midwest still beats the pants off of Northwest, and that Air Tran would have sucked worse than both.

I’m thrilled that Air Tran lost out on this. There needs to be at least one airline that doesn’t compete only on cost, but also quality, which Midwest still has in spades compared to the others.
