Republicans keep using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means.

Tamara is definitely not a Republican; she views both parties in this country with equal disdain. And she is very intelligent and extremely well-read.

It seems to only be a question – or an answer – for right-wingers who dig deep in their decades-old mental muck and bring up a handful of “Communist!” to throw at anyone who doesn’t believe what they do.

So, who’s the reading-challenged halfwit who thinks that my post was using “Communism” to refer to anything other than, well, Communism?

It wasn’t referring to President Obama. It wasn’t even necessarily referring to American politics at all. It was just a musing on why someone, in this day and age and with all the evidence of history behind us, would still call themselves a “Communist”.

Or are you denying that there is any such thing?

If you really want to get nitpicky here, then let’s challenge your grossly oversimplified and black and white post of “capitalism good, communism bad, ugh ugh” and continue scratching your genitalia.

In reality, neither true capitalism nor true communism (if you can even define either one of these things) has ever been implemented and both are unlikely to ever work for differing reasons.

So to directly answer your question, “It was just a musing on why someone, in this day and age and with all the evidence of history behind us, would still call themselves a “Communist”.”

So I ask — which theory of communism are you referring to when you refer to the people who “still call themselves a communist” versus the “this experience has been attempted twice in history?

The USSR “communist republic” theory (under which even Karl Marx has been quoted as saying “I am not a Marxist”) which obviously had some significant problems.

The true Marxian theory of communism which is actually a state in which there actually is no defined government (libertarian paradise, right?).

Something that people might be referring to more as socialism, due to the inaccurate blending of the term “communism” and “socialism” into something that is synonymous when, in fact, they are grossly different?

Because this peculiar thing called “context” actually matters. Even when you make assertions in a post comparing car manufacturing to socio-economic systems.

I’m just musing on why someone, in this day and age and with all the evidence of history behind us, would still call someone else a “Communist.”
