It’s the culture, stupid.

March 26th, 2006

I have stated on several occasions that the main problem in America’s inner cities is not racism…or guns…it’s the culture.

And now a Harvard sociologist is saying something very similar.

(Which makes me worry that maybe I’m wrong after all.)

{UPDATE: As usual, cialis canada buy Rick at Shark and Shepherd did a better job of saying what I meant to say. }

Thanks to Ann Althouse for the link.

    Sure it is the culture.

Now ask yourself what has caused the cultural shift?

    A demographic shift.

Of course the answer to the man shortage behind the demographic shift is to stop putting so many black men in prison.

Not going to happen. Prohibition is too popular – especially in the black community. You have a community calling for its own destruction. It is like treating disease with leeches. If the patient isn’t getting better the problem is obviously not enough leeches.

Simple economics – you want fewer gangs? Stop supporting them with the Government Cocaine Price Support and Gang Finance Program. Proof positive that we have learned nothing from alcohol prohibition.

We have learned a thing or two about addiction – clue – it is not caused by drugs. Other wise insulin users would be classified as junkies.

    Is Addiction Real?

    A well known secret

The level of ignorance on this whole subject in the general culture is just astounding.

BTW we pretty much know the cause of most drug abuse. It is child abuse. But, hey. Who wants to fix that?

Child abuse leads to drug abuse

    Police and PTSD

We will wise up eventually. I expect it will take another 40 years of severly damaging ourselves.

There is no will to face the facts.
