If Apple hadn’t invented the iPad

I’d be very interested in the new NOOK color from Barnes & Noble.
But how many devices do you really need? My ebooks are already spread across the Kindle app on my iPhone4 and iBooks. I don’t really need a third silo.

I haven’t bought any sort of eReader or delved into eBooks as of yet, surprisingly enough. So for me right now, I’m interested in Formats and stores.
I absolutely hate lock-in, which is why I never got an iPod… I hated the idea of being tied to iTunes. I waiting to see what the eBook equivalent to MP3 will finally be, and what stores finally deliver those books so that I can go from device to device.

I LOVE ebooks. But I read the exclusively on my iPhone…which isn’t as painful as you might think.
However, I’m not thrilled that my library is balkanized now. There should be a single standard.

IMO, a color Nook would only be good for children’s books. In fact, the only reason I own a Nook at all is that it has the capability of borrowing library books that my Kindle does not.
