I once…

…dangled beneath a railroad bridge because there wasn’t room on top for both me AND the train that was passing over it at the time.

Ah, memories. This, I have done, as well. It was a rush! Kind of like the time in H.S., a friend of mine and I got stoned on the rocks below the dam in Chippewa. The horns went off signaling the gates would open in 5 minutes. It took us 3 to figure this out, too late to make it to shore. So what did we do? We climed the gates! Obviously, since I’m here, we made it. I stopped smoking pot not too long after that.

    I’m jealous.

When the 261 was here, my dad and I were watching in the village at Harwood. Before the train arrived he showed me this one small spot on the bridge between the tracks and slightly below where they used to sit as kids as the train passed over. I said, “Pa, let’s go!” He said, nope. Those days are gone and nobody would take to it kindly. And something else about coal and melted shale dropping out of the boiler….

I forgot you were a trainaphiliac. Is that even a word? If it isn’t, it should be. ;)
