    HA!

  • 2. John Foust  |  September 10th, 2010 at 8:19 am

Don’t worry, the deleted bits just go to the bit bucket, where their electrons are washed, disinfected, polished, and recycled.

Of course, deletions, alterations, and re-translations of the Bible are the source of many conflicts and schisms. You will find Muslims who claim that the Quran is unchanged since its creation and protected from alteration by what we would today call “checksums” because of Arabic numerology.

    Jihad!

  • 4. John Foust  |  September 10th, 2010 at 9:54 am

Fred commits this sort of jihad on himself whenever he’s embarassingly wrong about a post at RDW. Down the Memory Hole it goes! One click, delete, presto, he’s more right again.

  • 5. Chris from Racine  |  September 10th, 2010 at 10:09 am

    Priceless!!! LOL

  • 6. Fred  |  September 10th, 2010 at 10:56 am

Get a Hobby Foust, your schtick is old.

  • 7. Fred  |  September 10th, 2010 at 11:05 am

For the record Foust, I did that once, almost 2 years ago. I found a post was factually wrong and deleted it as that was all I had time to do.

This is some huge ethical issue in your mind, and yours alone, get over it.

  • 8. John Foust  |  September 10th, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Gee, Fred, I’d follow your blog more closely if I was allowed to post there. There are other bloggers who do watch you much more closely who might be able to dispute your claim of “only doing that once.” Why’d you even do it once?

Let’s put the shoe on the other foot, then. You think Folkbum should’ve simply deleted Bert’s post about The Handsome Man? You wouldn’t have found fault in that, then posted about it?

Better yet, go ahead and explain your “Jihad!” comment. I don’t see the funny.

  • 9. Fred  |  September 10th, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Not my fault you have no sense of humor John.

You burned your privilege to post at RDW all on your own Foust. If you had a civil bone in your body you are bright enough to contact me and work through it, instead you take more joy in attacking me for minutia at every opportunity.

As to why I deleted that post for the thousandth time, I was on my way to a meeting and that was all I had the time to do. I found that to be a better decision than to let something stay posted that was not accurate. If you have an issue with that I really don’t care. I did what I thought to be the right thing. How many times will you ask me to explain the same thing?

Folkbum at a minimum should have APOLOGIZED. He could not even bring himself to do that; he defended Bert’s racist rant instead. Should he have deleted that racist rant? In my opinion yes but at a minimum he should have offered an apology. If Bert had been a poster on my blog I would have revoked his right to do so.

For the record, I would have done the same to J.Rawson on Badger Blogger. That was intended to be an inside “joke”. A joke in exceedingly poor taste. I reached out to Patrick about it, he felt awful about the whole thing.

I retold a joke many considered racist on Twitter last summer. I offered the truth in what happened, and I apologized. I was in fact about 3 hours removed from having my gallbladder removed still woozy under anesthesia and on pain killers. I did not even remember the re-tweet when asked about it the next day. I offered the truth, not an excuse and you and yours have ridiculed me for that since, implying that story was made up. Do you have some proof that I was lying about that John? With all the talk about libel of late I could easily sue you for your repeated accusations that I was not being truthful about that. I at least apologized to anyone who was offended. Folkbum who you still defend has not apologized.

I think you all need to step away from the keyboard, go smoke a blunt, and get laid.

Actually, I think I’ll go do that too.

  • 11. John Foust  |  September 10th, 2010 at 2:44 pm

Work through what, Fred? You ban me, I’m supposed to beg to come back? I don’t even remember why you banned me. Does it matter? Was it for name-calling? Of course not, because I don’t operate that way. Is there some aspect of politeness and civil discourse that I crossed, but the others who anonymously insult and name-call did not?

It sounds like some part of your brain, medicated or not, thought that Obama/watermelon joke was funny. I don’t think there’s a fact to dispute here, much less anything you’d care to sue me about. Claim it was your meds, I don’t care. I can’t remember ever blaming an intoxicant for my behavior, especially any action that requires fine motor skills and an active Internet connection. I can’t imagine being so drunk or high that your post would’ve been funny. Even now, you hedge and refer to it obliquely. “Many considered racist.” What about Fred Dooley, what does he think? Racist or not, in hindsight?

Similarly, I can’t understand how Rawson Schaller’s post would be a funny joke, even if an inside one. Group wee-wee? Cops acting outside the law to defend their blogging buddies against anonymous emails? Nibbling at ears? Shaving heads? It sounds like Patrick is so broken up about it, he can’t say a word, and he couldn’t bear to let Rawson stop posting, even minutes after his wee-wee post was zapped. He’s very forgiving and compassionate.

So go ahead, stay on topic, at least a little. Tell me why your “Jihad!” comment is funny or interesting.

Hi guys, I don’t mind you working out your differences, but let’s not hijack my whole blog, ok? :)

  • 13. Fred  |  September 10th, 2010 at 2:48 pm

No thanks John, you are not worth the effort.

    I tried, I really did.

  • 14. Fred  |  September 10th, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Sorry Elliot. It is impossible to work out any differences with Foust.

For the record Foust, what’s racist about a watermelon? There is one in my fridge right now. Does that make me a racist?

If you will look back at the date it was July 1, the day unemployment went over the 8% we were promised that it would not if only we passed the stimulus.

What made the joke funny to me was that it indicated something of no value. That’s the truth, you won’t believe it, I don’t care. It was just something of a monetary value less than a buck, that’s it.

Did I learn my lesson of not pulling out my laptop when I was groggy? Oh yes.

    Again, apologies Elliot.

If you delete the Koran from your Kindle, will it find 72 virgin Korans?

  • 16. John Foust  |  September 10th, 2010 at 5:23 pm

And now back to your regularly scheduled discussion about Elliot. :-)

  • 17. TerryN  |  September 10th, 2010 at 6:17 pm

I hope it doesn’t find 72 virgin Kindles Dan.

  • 18. Debunked  |  September 10th, 2010 at 10:14 pm

If you will look back at the date it was July 1, the day unemployment went over the 8% we were promised that it would not if only we passed the stimulus.

This was never a promise. There was a single economic projection paper released by the White House that a stimulus plan should keep unemployment below 8%. That is a far cry from a promise.

  • 19. Aaron  |  September 10th, 2010 at 10:31 pm

This is pure genius. Delete a copy for me!

  • 20. TerryN  |  September 11th, 2010 at 8:50 am

So the White House set the expectation that they didn’t achieve. Almost the same as a broken promise.

  • 21. John Foust  |  September 11th, 2010 at 9:29 am

Don’t worry, TerryN. This war will pay for itself.

  • 22. TerryN  |  September 11th, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Another broken promise. Why bring that up in this forum? Confused?

  • 23. Debunked  |  September 11th, 2010 at 11:06 pm

A projection is merely an “if we do/do not do X, then we should/should not see Y.” That is a far cry from a promise statement.

And what promise did Obama make about ending the war? I think you’re confusing Clinton with Obama. Clinton is who promised to end the war immediately. Obama never made any such promise and, in fact, campaigned on having slow time line withdrawal of the troops – exactly what we see.

Are there promises Obama has not kept? Yes. I will not even try to claim he has not broken any promises that he made during his presidential campaign or over the past year and eight months.

But is the 8% unemployment or ending the Iraq war examples of them? Nope.

Brush up on your facts before you make false assertions.

  • 24. Fred  |  September 12th, 2010 at 8:16 am

Sorry Debunked, but the rhetoric from the White House and from the Vice President is that we needed the “stimulus” plan passed to keep unemployment under 8%.

That’s just a fact no matter how you want to spin it.

  • 25. John Foust  |  September 12th, 2010 at 11:43 am

And the war will pay for itself, and ten KFC coupons are worth way more than a buck.

  • 26. Debunked  |  September 12th, 2010 at 12:01 pm

Find me the quote where Obama made that promise, Fred. I have looked, and I am unable to find where Obama made that promise as Terry claimed (which is repeated by conservative pundits).

Until somebody can show me where Obama made that promise, then the spin is squarely placed on the Republicans. So I don’t know what you mean by I’m trying to spin it.

Seems like the editor of the Las vegas Review Journal kind of stole your line or from someone else:

  • 28. Elliot  |  September 12th, 2010 at 2:41 pm

The Internet continually provides proof that no idea is original. I made this up, but I’m sure a couple of thousand people had the same thought at the same time. ;)

  • 29. TerryN  |  September 12th, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Debunked, where in this thread did I assert the 8% promise line?

Hey, but that summer of recovery is going swimmingly, eh?

  • 30. Debunked  |  September 12th, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Ah, it was Fred who made the original claim of the promise. You merely said a projection was almost the same thing as a broken promise.
