Gem of the Ocean is a real gem

November 11th, 2006

I just attended the Milwaukee Repertory Theater‘s performance of Gem of the Ocean.

It’s a beautifully written, best cialis decease beautifully acted play about the lingering effects of slavery in America at the turn of the century.

There is also a strongly biblical and allegorical structure.

One of the reasons I think I like the occasional black-oriented plays that The Rep does is that the vast majority of the actors are not members of the normal cast.

Because The Rep only has a couple of black actors in the company, viagra sale drugstore they have to bring new performers from out of town and, almost without exception, they tend to be excellent.

The only thing I didn’t like about the performance is that the blacks on stage easily outnumbered the blacks in the audience.
