Garnett compared that force to hitting a target with a Ford Taurus at 380 mph

He was talking about the Navy’s new railgun.

But who cares what he was talking about?

I just love the image of shooting a Ford Taurus across the sky at 380 mph.

Would a Ford Escort be a good substitute?

Nah. Even with an electromagnetic cannon, you can’t get those over 80 miles per hour.

We got hit by a round from the Navy’s railgun, and it Taurus apart.

But seriously, folks, The Brits are have been building racing Escorts with 4-valve heads that go over 120 mph. Heck, the only reason a turbo-Festiva can’t run the 1/4 mile in less than 11 seconds is that much power breaks the axles.
