Does being a Democrat make you immoral?

March 29th, 2006

In a recent survey, buy cialis rx a majority of Republicans found seven of the following 10 behaviors morally wrong…

…while a majority of Democrats and independents found just three behaviors morally wrong – adultery, cialis sales cialis tax cheating and over-drinking.

Now I don’t know if being a Democrat makes you less “moral”… or just less judgemental.

But either way, it’s going to make it hard for Democrats to win over all the folks who said they were voting their “values” in 2004.

    Overeating is immoral?

    I guess I’m only a 90% wingnut.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
I am not one of those that can pull a “who dunnit” list off the top of my head, but someone out there is. Morals have nothing to do with if you are a republican or a democrat…because if it was we wouldn’t have a government! Most corrupt people around, yet we all keep votin’ back in! Last time I checked the morals of skipping out on Vietnam, snorting coke, drinking heavily and trading Sammy Sosa had no weight on the last two elections!

You realize your last post started like this:

    “WUWM owes me an apology.

Yesterday, they aired the most unbalanced, irrelevant, irrational tripe I‚Äôve ever heard on a public radio station.”

So following that post with an unbalanced and irrelevant poll to prove how immoral Democrats are kind of makes you look bad.

Have fun, it’s your blog, but you ought to be aware of the perception. Regardless, Democrats still managed to support the two behaviors actually covered in the ten commandments, so values voters probably aren’t as worried about their opinions on pot smoking and overeating.

    How was the survey unbalanced?

It was done by the Pew Research Center.

And it wasn’t stating an opinion the way the gentleman on WUWM was. It was reporting the results of their research.

I was just pointing out the disconnect between what Republicans consider to be moral and what Democrats consider to be moral.

The point is the two sides aren’t even speaking the same language.

And I am having fun. Thanks!

I’m Republican (ok, a moderate Republican) and I would say 8 of the 10 are wrong. The “okay” ones are lying to protect someone’s feelings because good comes from that lie, and gambling as long as it’s not excessive. Buying a lottery ticket every so often is okay. Buying one every day is a problem.

I’ve done those. I’ve also drank to much and eaten too much. (Who hasn’t?) Doesn’t mean it’s right, though.

I smoked marijuana a long time ago, but not recently. I do think it should be legal though.

Taxes I obsess over worrying that I won’t report everything – that I’ll forget something that I’ll remember just after it’s too late to fix.

How do the two sides feel about lying to pollsters to tell them what they think the correct answer is?
