And so, unsurprisingly, the idea of a “hate crime” progresses to where “hate” itself becomes the crime.

I wish I could say I was surprised that the US Jewish Anti-Defamation League wants Mel Gibson investigated and charged for hate crimes over the disparaging things he said about the Jewish people.

But I’m not.

Such thinking is the inevitable consequence of associating actual criminal activities with the non-criminal act of verbally expressing yourself. (Even if the thoughts you express are ugly or despicable.)

What Gibson purportedly said about Jews was intolerable and ignorant, cialis sales cialis but treating what he said as a crime is a million times more so.
