And the newspaper runs a large article on how he was the victim of racism?

Riiiiight. Doesn’t he know his place? He should just lie back and enjoy it.

Nope. Instead of filing a complaint with his union about the supposed racism (which he never did), he should steal from the company on video tape and then murder eight people when they fire him for it!

    Let’s be clear.

    Real racism is wrong.

But how racist would these eight people have to have been before it justified their murders and making their racism the focus of the story?

A claim of racism that’s undocumented and made by their killer? A man who apparently claimed that the other places he worked were also racist?

Should the racism angle be mentioned? Sure. Especially because the killer brought it up in a 911 call during the incident. But I think making it the main focus of the story (without considerable evidence that there actually was racism) victimizes the dead and their families a second time.

No one said the racism he alleged was a justification for the murders. Of course it wasn’t. But you really want to turn around and say the murderer was racist, too, because he attacked those who allegedly taunted him?

    I see the problem here.

What I should have wrote was “And the newspaper runs a large article on how he was the victim?”

Adding “racism” to the sentence just obscured my point.

I like to think of them as fireflies.

I’m sure he called them, “Crackers” (not racist) and they rebuttled calling him a racist “nigger” (racist). You can see the double-standard here.
