Isn’t it ironic

September 6th, 2006

…that the type of people who are criticizing George Bush for calling radical Muslim terrorists Islamic fascists are the same people who have been calling George Bush a fascist for years?

They wouldn’t know a fascist if it walked up and spat on their shoe

I’ve never called Bush a fascist; I–unlike Bush–know what fascist means.

I’ve been called a fascist. Not really sure why, but at least I know the moonbat war reading… sort of! :)

Chris, it’s not “my” answer; there’s a definition for the word. I’m sure you have a dictionary–or at least access to Google–and you can figure it out for yourself.

When you start calling people fascist who are not actually fascists, you dilute the definition, and you lose the ability to name people who actually are fascists. What are we going to call, for example, Moussilini, if we start labeling everyone from bin Laden to Zarqawi a fascist? They are not the same–and they will never be the same, no matter how often you say the words.

Fascism is an invention of the 20th century. The jihad we currently face, while certainly using modern weaponry and fofighting techniques, is far older. Calling it fascist is a deeply offensive attempt to tie what we fight now to what we fought in WWII. I am not suggesting today’s fight is not important; rather, I suggest we be precise and honest about what we are doing.

    Pronunciation: ‘fa-“shi-z&m also ‘fa-“si-
    Function: noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces

often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

Islamofascism looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, blows up people and buildings in order to control others like a fascist duck… it’s a duck, Jay.
